Suman Sharma is a 1990 Batch Indian Revenue Services Officer working as Managing Director of the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) since 29^th August 2021. She has completed her M.Sc in Organic Chemistry from Meerut University. She has MBA Degree from the University of Hull, United Kingdom.

She began her career as an IRS officer in Ahmedabad and subsequently worked in Surat, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai.

Worked with the Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance and also gained experience in international tax while working in the Directorate of International Taxation and Transfer Pricing.

Before joining SECI, she worked in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, North Zone.

She has attended short-term management courses in IIM, Bangalore; Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon; Duke University North Carolina, USA and IBFD, Amsterdam.

SECI is a CPSU under the aegis of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) and is the only CPSU dedicated to the renewable energy sector. SECI is one of the nodal agencies designated by the Govt. of India for implementation of schemes related to RE capacity addition in the country. SECI has AAA rating and has a Category-1 power trading license. SECI is playing key role in India’s Renewable Energy growth. Under Ms. Sharma’s leadership, the organization has witnessed a significant growth in its power trading operations - Out of the total capacity of over 44 GW of Power Sale Agreements signed over the past 11 years, 38% capacity has been signed in FY 2021-22 alone.
