Robert brings over 20 years of rich experience in the M&A and corporate venturing space. He has served as CFO of a disruptive technology startup in early 2000s before joining Shell’s corporate M&A and financing division. He co-founded Shell Ventures (SV) in 2012, and currently serves as its Chief Investment Officer. He also serves as Non-Executive Director in various portfolio companies of SV providing guidance and support to accelerate their growth. Additionally, Robert manages the SV India team and is the driving force behind growing SV’s investments and portfolio in India.

Shell Ventures ("SV"), is the corporate venturing arm of Royal Dutch Shell, invests in early-stage technology companies, scale-ups, joint ventures, spin-outs and independent venture capital funds with the aim to accelerate the development and deployment of innovations in Shell and accelerate the mobility and energy transition. SV syndicates with other VCs and CVCs to build companies that make a difference in the energy and mobility transformation. SV contributes to the success of a startup by helping them not only with access to capital but by providing access to Shell’s R&D laboratories (the creators of many 'industry firsts'), to field trials, to Shell’s global supply chain and to a large global customer base. SV has invested in over 100 startups over the last decade, and has teams spread across San Francisco, Houston, Boston, London, The Netherlands, China and India.
