Nakul leads the Shell Energy business in India, responsible for Shell’s gas, LNG and power marketing and trading activities in the country. Shell Energy India is a Shell venture, serving Indian customers through a fully-owned and integrated gas value chain – competitive supply from a global LNG portfolio, regasification at the Hazira facility, and downstream customer sales. Recently, SEI has added domestic gas sales, marketing of LNG by trucks and is now developing an integrated power business to serve Indian businesses.

Nakul began this role in October 2020 and brings a wealth of experience of 18 years with Shell and BG Group spanning a range of roles in commercial, business development, strategy and M&A activities in the energy sector. Prior to his appointment to India, Nakul led the Shell Energy business in the Philippines, successfully establishing Shell as an electricity retailer in the country.

Prior to that, Nakul spent seven years in Singapore, initially leading Shell’s gas and LNG marketing team there, during which time he successfully grew the LNG business and helped establish an LNG bunkering business in Singapore. He was subsequently responsible for developing strategy in Shell’s Trading and Supply business in the Asia-Pacific region.

Nakul has prior experience in M&A in the UK and in various commercial and business development roles in India, including as Head of Business Development and Regulation at Gujarat Gas, then a BG Group subsidiary.

Nakul originally trained as a mechanical engineer and has an MBA from IIM Calcutta.
