Anish De
Global Head of Energy, Natural Resources and Chemicals KPMG, India
Anish De serves as the Global Head for Energy, Natural Resources and Chemicals (ENRC). As an acclaimed energy sector expert, he has pioneered work in corporate strategy, reform and restructuring, policy and regulation, commercial and financial advisory, capital projects, energy markets, smart grids and digital.
Anish has been a regular contributor to the Economic Times, CNBC, WEF, Powerline and other business and trade publications, especially on matters related to the energy transition, climate mitigation and adaption, and technology developments in the digital economy, energy storage, hydrogen and renewables. He has also been a member of several governmental task forces and committees on energy.
Anish is a trusted advisor for corporates and governments. He founded the South Asia business of Mercados EMI in 2008, a boutique European energy consulting company. KPMG in India acquired the firm in 2014, whereafter he took over as the leader for the energy and infrastructure consulting practice.
Since 2017 Anish has led the ENRC sector for KPMG in India and created a successful profile and market presence. In early 2021 he was appointed KPMG International’s Global Power & Utilities leader before transitioning to the ENRC sector leadership role in August 2022. Under his leadership, ENRich, the Indian firm's significant energy and resources event, has pivoted to become a global conference and is a reference event for the energy community.
Anish is passionate about creating solid institutions and communities. Anish founded KPMG's India Decarbonization Hub and is a crucial member of KPMG's Global Climate Change & Decarbonization Center. He has also set up a network of young professionals christened “Global Next Generation Energy Community” which pursues a youth charter on sector issues.
Anish is a Mechanical Engineer with an MBA in Finance from Xavier Institute of Management, India. Beyond work, Anish is an avid reader, traveler, yoga enthusiast, blogger, and animal lover. He is deeply committed to environmental causes and believes that we all would be better served if humanity was more biocentric than anthropocentric.
